OINP hands out Invitations to Apply

On May 18th, 2021, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) handed out 77 Invitation to Apply (ITA) under their new Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The new EOI system allows applicants under the following streams to enter a profile with the OINP to let them know they would like to receive a provincial nomination. The OINP then assigns a score to the applicant which is then used to select applicants from each stream.

For this specific draw, the OINP handed out 77 ITAs to those under the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream who had a score of 77 or higher.

This draw comes one week after their first-ever selection using the EOI system on May 11, 2021. In that draw, the OINP specifically selected applicants from the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream who had a score of 31 or higher AND had a job offer in one of the following qualifying occupations:

Health care occupations

  • 3012 – Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses
  • 3112 – General practitioners and family physicians
  • 3121 – Optometrists
  • 3122 – Chiropractors
  • 3124 – Allied primary health practitioners
  • 3125 – Other professional occupations in health diagnosing and treating

  • 3141 – Audiologists and speech-language pathologists
  • 3213 – Animal health technologists and veterinary technicians
  • 3214 – Respiratory therapists, clinical perfusionists and cardiopulmonary technologists
  • 3215 – Medical radiation technologists
  • 3216 – Medical sonographers
  • 3232 – Practitioners of natural healing
  • 3236 – Massage therapists

Skilled trades occupations

  • 7241 – Electricians (except industrial and power system)
  • 7271 – Carpenters
  • 7291 – Roofers and shinglers
  • 7302 – Contractors and supervisors, heavy equipment operator crews
  • 7312 – Heavy-duty equipment mechanics
  • 7313 – Refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics
  • 7316 – Machine fitters
  • 7318 – Elevator constructors and mechanics

Before the new EOI system was launched, applicants under the above-mentioned streams had to have their documents ready at all times as they had to wait to see a notification on the OINP news page that those streams would be opening for applications. Usually, only 24 hours notice was given. Once the streams opened, applicants had to battle to log in to the online system which would become overloaded, and get their spot in the system before the system closed for applications. The system would usually fill up within a matter of hours. Under the new EOI system, applicants can enter their EOI whenever they would like and will be selected based on their merits, as opposed to their luck getting into the system.
